Song Popularity Analysis: Multiple Linear Regression Approach

In our report, we explore the dynamic and lucrative music industry, which generates a substantial $26.2 billion, primarily through streaming. This digital shift provides a unique opportunity to utilize data analytics for enhancing an artist's reach and success. Our focus is the role of A&Rs, who critically influence music exposure and success by selecting and timing the release of singles and albums. We utilize a dataset from Kaggle, compiled via the Spotify API, featuring the most streamed songs of 2023. This dataset, comprising 176 records across 24 fields, includes information like chart positions, streams, and playlist additions from various platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Shazam. We concentrated on data exclusively from the year 2023 for its relevance and accuracy, ensuring that our analysis is tailored to current market trends. This approach aims to optimize the artistic output and strategic release schedules for a roster of artists, maximizing their impact in the ever-evolving music industry.
